This natural pear-shaped diamond is graded D colour, Flawless clarity, with Excellent Polish and Excellent Symmetry by GIA. But there is something else about this diamond that makes it particularly rare — it is Type IIa.
Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of natural diamonds, with no measurable nitrogen or boron. Only a very small percentage of natural diamonds fall into this classification. Some of the world's most famous diamonds, including the Cullinan and Koh-i-Noor, are Type IIa too.
For us, finding a diamond like this is always exciting. D Flawless is already an exceptional combination, but to find it together with a Type IIa classification makes this pear extra special. We sourced several options before selecting this one; it had to look just as good in person as it did on paper, considering its beautiful pear shape, proportions, and brilliance.For her ring, we kept the design elegant and let the diamond take centre stage. A petal-inspired basket holds the pear beautifully from the side, finished with a classic pavé diamond band for just the right amount of sparkle. We also customised the height of the ring setting so that it sits beautifully with her existing bands.
